Emma Lovack and Remi Lawliet

Emma pulled Remi from the elavator and out the front door, she saw a cop car near by and several men in uniform standing at the end of the street. "Bugger!" She cursed. There only way out was across the road into the traffic. At her exclamation an officer turned and spotted them, he shouted something and the other officers turned towards them.

She pulled Remi into the traffic, a car screaching to a stop centermeatres away. They ran down the street, the officers were just crossing the road behind them. "Crap crap crap! Come on Remi!"

Remi sighed. All he wanted to do now was find Gabryle and go to sleep. He stared at the officers. "Damn!" He yelled. He knew he wasn't going to be able to run very well. He hurriedly ran after Emma stumbling.

Emma felt a bullet wiz by her ear missing her by inches. "Hey! Whats Adriane playing at?!" she squaeled.
Emma doubled back slightly and put an arm around Remi's torso, she knew this would slow her down but she didn't want Remi getting left behind, and she was too short to reach his shoulders.
Emma looked back at the officers, watching one raise the gun gain. What WAS Adriane playing at, this was a little too realistic!
Another gun shot echoed out and Emma let out a gasp of pain. She looked at her right arm and nearly fainted with shock. What the HELL?!?! She stumbled slightly as the pain took her by suprise, red was dripping down her brown jumper sleeve. She'd never been hurt like this before... the worst injury she had ever experienced before now was a mental one. Pain beyond pain, she bit her lip and tears welled in her eyes, but she kept running. "D-d-dya know were Birthday will be..?" She stuttered realizing she had no idea where to take Remi.

Remi watched as blood ran down Emma's arm. "Emma!" The sedative was wearing off more now so he picked Emma up and started running stumbling all the way. "No, I don't know where she is but hopefully she has her phone." He said pulling out his cell and dialing her number, which he memorized.

Emma's eyes widened slightly as she felt herself lifted off the floor. She would have protested, pushed him away indignantly, but the pain was consuming her mind. Her eyes watered and tears streamed down her face silently. Her lip had began bleeding too after she had bitten it so hard and her breathe was comming out in raggad pants. The blood was everywhere. She looked and saw a deep red smudge of Remi's shirt.

"Sorry for bleeding on you..." She apologized weakly, wondering how long it took a person to bleed to death. The bullet had only got her in the arm, surely she couldn't bleed to death... the smarter side of Emma seemed to have fallen out with the bullet. Emma knew all about the body of course... she knew how many main veins ran through her arm but a tiny part of her hoped this wouldn't matter and that the bullet missed any main arteries...
She hiccoughed, a tiny part of her mind was please with herself that she could remember a few shakepseare quotes in her head...

"No it's okay Emma..... It's my fault you got shot....." Remi sighed still trying to get a hold of Gabe. Ring ring ring......

Emma shut her eyes and let out a long exhaul. "I'm glad I got to see you again." She told him truthfully. Emma opened her eyes and stared Remi in the face. "It's not your fault, I chose to break you out. I may not have known I'd get PHYSICALLY hurt but I knew I was putting my well being on the line." She chimed quietly.

Remi sighed. "Now I've got two people that got shot because of me..." He carried her behind a building and tore some of his shirt, wrapped it around Emma's arm. Then he looked on yellow pages using his cell phone to find the number of Jacob Decker. He dialed the number and let it riiiiiing.

Emma raised her head slightly as something dawned on her. "Put me down on the path and run. The officers want me, you can get away to Birthday!" She told him blankly staring into his eyes. She really didn't want to leave him, she had never felt this happy and content, being cradled into his chest. Well, she would prefer it if she wasn't bleeding, but the moment felt perfect to her non the less. She had to leave Remi to let him get away, the officers would just follow and follow...

Remi held Emma tightly. "I'm not going to leave you here to bleed and be found by them."

Emma squirmed again hissing slightly under her breathe. But decided it was a lost cause, she knew what Remi was like, and she loved him as he was. She blushed at this thought and hide her face in his chest.

"I think first you need a hospital..." Remi really want to go and find Gabe but he needed to take care of his friend first. Remi carried Emma to the closest hospital then set her down in front of a nurse. "I have to go Emma. I'll call you to check on how you are doing as soon as I can!" Then Remi ran off out the door.

Emma felt herself falling into darkness. It was bliss... no pain... no... anything. Unusual sounds surrounded her and she could of sworn she could here voices... was she going mad?

"What on earth were they doing?" One voice hissed close by.

"How long do you think its been, that boy realy should have got her here sooner... she was nearly dead when we got her!"

"The bullet seems to have passed right through... most people would have stayed to explain themselves, but no, he just storms off, ditches her here without even a word to us!"
Emma opened her eyes, the world around her was blurry and terribly confusing. Someone must have removed her glasses. She saw several faces looming over her and a strange buzzing filled the air. "She's awake!" A nurse cried.
"'Bout time, thought we'd lost her." A doctor chimed riffling through what she could only assume was a medical file.
"Whusssgoingon?" She slurred trying to sit up. She was compeltely numb, she lookeed at her arm and saw it heavily bandaged. She squinted up at the people around her. "Where am I?" A nurse leant down to her smilling, a look of concern in her eyes. "Hello there. You've been through quiet a bit of trauma lately but if its possible, could you tell us what happened?" She cooed, grinning at her with a child like simper. Emma thought for a second, she instinctivly wanted to shake her head, tell her she didn't know, but then there would be a police enquiry...

"Saw someone getting mugged... tried to help. Is he ok? Is he here?" She lied looking around franticly knowing the nurses and doctors would assume she meant the boy who had brought her here. Her heart accelerated and she could here a the beeping sound becomming some frequent. Another nurse swept over her and dabbed her head with a wet clothe.

" 'Fraid not lovey, he left pretty sharpish. Said something about calling you when he has time," The nurse replied her brows furrowing.
"You've suffered from heavy blood lose, your lucky to be alive. The bullet severed two main arteries and several nerves before leaving your body. We though you were a goner, that boy must have left it late to bring you here, you were as white as a sheet. I'd imagine he's fine though, looked a bit scared but no harm was done to him as far as we could tell."

Emma frowned slightly and looked at her arm beside her, she tried to clench a fist and two of her fingers twitched feebly. She stared in open mouthed horror at her mangled arm and gulped... How could she read shakespeare with only one hand?!
"Er, yes about that. We'd like to keep you here a while, as you can see we've hooked you up to an IV and we will be monotring your condition. Once the major things are taken care of we'll help you with therapy to bring back the movement in your hand."
Emma's mouth opened in a silent scream and tears rolled down her cheek. Not only would she never see Remi again, not only had she been shot on her co-workers orders but she could lose the use of her hand too?! The beeping sped up yet again and the nurse smiled at her warmly. "It's ok, we'll do all we can."

Stupid tell-tale heart monitor...

The story behind this piece quoted from my roleplay, although I cut out a lot because I knew no one would understand it x)
